HD-386 is a small, portable multi-purpose digital scale with a glass platform.  Numerous concepts were originally proposed, but Tanita's product planning division decided that the design should be simple and the color scheme should follow a theme of vacation destinations.  A typical customer would theoretically be someone who travels frequently and might have a need for a portable scale.
